With our CPU and GPU settled, we need to start thinking about how to optimize temps for consistent performance. Any good cooling solution starts with making sure you've got a cooler capable of keeping the CPU boosting even under heavy gaming loads. Our 14th Gen i5-14600K is definitely a hot date, and with a tdp of 125-watts it demands a high performance cooler. So we're going with the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB. Gamers Nexus raved about this CPU cooler and named it an "extremely compelling value." We wholeheartedly agree! And if you want to take things to the next level and add some all-in-one liquid cooling, we offer the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240. Capable of keeping an i9-13900K nice and chilly, this one provides plenty of thermal overhead for our i5-13600K in The Legionnaire - and at a great price point too!

Next we looked to the motherboard. The quickest way to ensure your system deteriorates quickly is to cut corners on the motherboard. The quality of the power solution, cooling system, capacitors, and VRM truly matter more and more the longer you play on a system. We chose ASUS' TUF Gaming Z790-PLUS WiFi for this one. 16+1 power stages (rated 60A), military grade components, and high quality capacitors, chokes, and heat sinks are all good reasons for this one. Also factoring in are onboard WiFi 6E, Bluetooth v5.3, USB 3.2 Type-C and PCIe 5.0 - all the connectivity that matters for now, and for later. 

When it comes to storage, not all "SSDs" are created equal. Far from it. SATA based SSDs are outdated and usually provide read/write speeds somewhere between 200-550 Mb/s. Mechanical hard drives have average read/write speeds of 80-160 Mb/s. Compare these figures to our Kingston KC3000 M.2 NVMe SSDs that throw down with a minimum rating of 7000 Mb/s sequential read and 6000 Mb/s sequential write speeds. If you're still running on an old hard drive or SATA based SSD, you're going to love the difference these drives make in your system. Load times? What load times? Or maybe game, stream, and record simultaneously without saturating your drive bandwidth. 

We stick with Kingston for our memory choice on this one as well. The Kingston Fury Beast RGB DDR5-5600 memory is the perfect choice to handle your high-fps gaming. When it comes to how much memory you need, we know 16GB is still "industry standard" but candidly, that's not good enough for a system designed to keep you on the leading edge of gaming for years, so we opt for 32GB to give you some overhead for the increasingly complex game engines on the horizon.

We've chosen a Fractal Design Pop Air RGB for the case for this one. Fractal Design cases are nearly always superb, and this one is no exception. It's a typical clean look by Fractal, with some options for a splash of color as well which we have to say we rather enjoy. Lest you think it's all about the looks, this one is a top tier performer when it comes to temps and noise levels as well. 

If cutting corners on the motherboard is the best way to ensure premature system failure, a cheap power supply is next in line as a surefire way to ensure excessive wear and tear on things. A steady supply of smooth, efficient power flowing through a high quality board is the only recipe for cooking up a system that will perform at its peak longer.
